Weatherhead award represents “milestone” in company history

mile•stone, (mil'ston) n. An important event or tuning point in one’s history or career.

On December 6, 2005, Midwest Investment Management LLC received the prestigious “Weatherhead Upstart Award” from the Council of Smaller Enterprises (COSE) and Case University Weatherhead School of Management.

The award is highly significant — a “milestone” — because Midwest Investment Manage-ment has been recog-nized for its success by the business community and by a world-class business school. I believe the Weatherhead Award is one of the ultimate awards a Cleveland-based company can receive.

Looking back

During the awards ceremony, I recalled that windy, overcast day in January 2000 when our firm opened for business. We had office space for our six Partners, but no desks, furniture, phones, or...clients.

Yet although our first day was cold and dark, our future was bright. Within 60 days, we established over 100 client accounts and, as the old saying goes, “the rest is history.”

And what a history it has been!

The growth of Midwest Investment Management exceeded our expectations. The confidence shown in our firm by our clients and the business community has validated the vision, philosophy, and confidence my Partners and I had when we opened for business.

On behalf of the other six Partners of our firm, I want to express our appreciation to COSE and the Weatherhead School of Business for publicly recognizing the achievements of our company.

Ultimately, however, it is our clients whom we must thank for helping us reach this point in our company’s history and growth. Their trust and confidence has made Midwest Investment Management successful and recognized as a leader in its field.
